Brad Pitt’s Story of Depression and Quitting Smoking
Brad Pitt recounts various experiences of his life recently regarding his mental health in the past few years. He said he struggled with low-level depression because he felt his life was so lonely and made him quit smoking.
Angelina Jolie’s ex-husband admits that he always feels alone in his life. And recently, Brad Pitt had an even bigger hug than his family.
“I always felt very alone in my life. Alone growing up as a child, alone even here [Los Angeles]. And recently I have a bigger hug from my friends and family,” said the 58-year-old actor. This was revealed by Brad Pitt during an interview with GQ magazine for the August issue which was released on Wednesday (6/22) United States time.
“I think I spent years with mild depression, and it was only after that, trying to embrace all aspects of myself, good and bad, that I was able to capture those moments of joy,” said Brad Pitt.
Brad Pitt admitted it took time to find out who he really was. When he lived in a city that required people to be “yourself,” Pitt didn’t seem to understand him.
According to Brad Pitt, music brings a lot of happiness in his life. Although, he admits that happiness he met recently after he lived for 58 years.
In an interview with GQ magazine, Brad Pitt also revealed that he is trying to find his own happiness, including by reducing alcohol to cigarettes.
“I consider myself in the last round. Maybe it’s sort of in the last semester or trimester. What will be the part in it? How do I want to design it?”
“I don’t have the ability to do it in just a day or two,” said Brad Pitt of his decision to quit smoking.
In the face of the spotlight, Brad Pitt said he was grateful to have a strong support system during his drama with Angelina Jolie.
“I have a cool boy group here that’s really private and selective, so it’s safe,” said Brad Pitt.
“Because I’ve seen other people’s stuff that was recorded when they spilled it and it was terrible for me,” he continued.
